Kali Nethunter Nexus 6p Install

I wanted to write down my notes on installing Kali Nethunter on my Nexus 6p. Keep in mind file versions/names may change based on the date and updates, so this is a general guide.

Of note, I’m installing from my Kali laptop.


Marshmallow has an issue with Y OTG cables.  With this in mind, I purchased:

  1. Build NetHunter
    git clone https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter;
    cd kali-nethunter/nethunter-installer/;
    ./build.py -d angler -m;
    cd ../../;
  2. Build/prep Linux Root Toolkit
    git clone https://github.com/offensive-security/nethunter-LRT.git;
    wget https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/angler-mtc20l-factory-a74ad54f.zip;
    mv angler-mtc20l-factory-a74ad54f.zip nethunter-LRT/stockImage/;
    mv kali-nethunter/nethunter-installer/update-nethunter-angler-marshmallow-*.zip nethunter-LRT/kaliNethunter/;
    wget https://dl.twrp.me/angler/twrp-3.0.2-2-angler.img;
    mv twrp-3.0.2-2-angler.img nethunter-LRT/twrpImage/;

    cd nethunter-LRT;
  3. OEM Unlock.
    1. Enable USB Debugging on your phone
    2. Allow OEM unlocking
    3. Plug your phone into your computer
    4. Change the USB mode to File Transfers
    5. Click ‘ok’ for Allow USB debugging
    6. ./oemUnlock.sh
  4. Factory Reset
    1. Perform the factory reset
    2. On your phone, follow the setup prompts to get back to the home screen.  Re-enable USB Debugging, and accept the connection/cert.
  5. NetHunter and Friends
  6. If NetHunter isn’t listed as an app for you, click settings > about. Check the Kernel says Kali.  In that case, kernel patched but we need to install your apps.
